When Brian Egan finished trade school and his apprenticeship as a carpenter he decided to trade the big city life of Chicago for the relaxed lifestyle in Oregon.
Like so many other entrepreneurs he got his contractor’s license and went to work as Brian Egan Construction Company. Brian and wife Kris moved to Corvallis in the early 1980s, where he established a flourishing contracting firm. By the early 1990s, the Egans decided to open a kitchen and bath showroom where clients could see and touch the materials they worked with.
Brian began his training to be a Certified Kitchen Designer, taking evening classes through the National Kitchen and Bath Association. The classes provided valuable networking opportunities and established relationships that continue to this day, like a friendship with Mel Archer of Pacific Design Cabinets. Many years later, Pacific Design still provides custom cabinets for Corvallis Custom Kitchens & Baths’ clients!
In 1992, Brian earned his CKD, the showroom opened in Downtown Corvallis and the company hired its first employee. Corvallis Custom Kitchens and Baths has worked closely with the Oregon State University Department of Design and Human Environment. Students from the program have served as interns and job shadows learning about the business – and several of them have become our employees after graduation.
Brian passed the Certified Bathroom Designer test through the National Kitchen and Bath Association in 1996. After 10 years of design experience and extensive continuing education, Brian qualified to become a Certified Master Kitchen & Bath Designer in 2005. At the time he was one of only 75 designers in the nation with that achievement.
When the showroom opened Kris stepped in as Showroom Manager and IT person. She also took on the role of company photographer, keeping an extensive archive of our work. She is now working part time, but she’s still our Showroom Manager, Photographer, and Marketing Director.
Brian & Kris love to travel, hike, read, kayak, garden, and play with their dog Quinn.
