Horseshoe Loop

Our clients came to us looking to remodel their original 1937 farmhouse kitchen and cold storage pantry. To increase the size of the kitchen, we removed the original entry to the farmhouse which fully opened the space between the kitchen and living room. We then got to work replacing the floor joist system under the kitchen and repaired the foundation footings. With all of the structural work complete, this stunning farmhouse kitchen transformation could begin.

Our clients enjoy hosting many large gatherings and needed a large kitchen to entertain in. We designed this space with a 14-foot island that can seat up to 6 people. We also installed a Blanco bar sink with a Hansgrohe Talis C prep faucet. Some cabinet organization features include a custom knife block pull-out, maple cutting boards, cutlery storage, and a garbage/recycling pull-out. Above the island, we installed three Birch Lane Heritage Teardrop pendants to add some ambient lighting.

Along the exterior walls of the kitchen, we added new Milgard StyleLine white vinyl windows to bring in an abundance of natural light and allow the homeowners to see their beautiful farm. Three of the windows installed at counter height were designed to be serving stations for guests during the summer when they are outside barbequing or swimming in the pool. Cabinet features include spice rack pull-outs, utensils storage pull-outs, tray storage, a custom range hood, USB drawer charging station, custom blind corner cabinet moveable shelving, and a storage bench. We installed a Blanco Ikon apron front sink, with a Hansgrohe Talis C faucet flanked by Bosch dishwashers on each side. At the Thermador dual fuel range, we added a Hansgrohe Talis C pot filler and niches for cooking oil storage.

The expansive butler’s pantry with over 28 feet of uninterrupted counter space was designed to be functional and maximize storage but feel open and spacious. We installed glass front upper cabinet doors with interior LED lighting for our clients to display their wonderful Pyrex collection. We also installed under cabinet lighting to ensure our clients had plenty of task lighting in the evenings to work under. Two Thermador beverage fridges were added for extra beverage and cold storage. A white oak drop-down cutting board was added to the left side of the pantry for even more prep space with additional cutting boards throughout the kitchen.

The countertops in this kitchen are quartz Silestone Pearl Jasmine. We complimented the countertops with Tilebar’s Manchester Hexagon tile backsplash and Daltile Revalia accents in the niches. The custom-built shaker cabinetry was painted with Magnolia Home True White on the perimeter and Display for the island, custom hood, and fridge cabinetry. We chose Cosmas Clear Glass Cup pulls for the drawers and Rope Pulls for the doors. To complement the cabinetry colors, we chose a warm, but light color for the walls – Magnolia Home Soft Linen. To complete this transformation, we installed Hickory flooring with a natural matte finish throughout the main floor of the home and painted all of the trim and casing Magnolia Home True White.

Lastly, to create the new entry to the farmhouse, we installed an 8-foot Origin 3-panel glass bi-fold door. Open just one panel for daily use or all three panels when entertaining.
