Traditional Bathroom Remodel
Lincoln Ct.

When the Hazels found out that the shower in their Corvallis home had a leaking problem, they saw an opportunity to update the entire space to feel new and elegant while still fitting in with the rest of their home.

The bathroom is light and bright, with luxury finishes from end to end. As you enter the bathroom, you’re met with a double vanity that’s packed with convenient storage. It includes thoughtful custom storage, too, like an in-drawer outlet for hairstyling tools and pull-out shelves below for easy accessibility and organization. To add even more needed storage, the designer included a countertop medicine cabinet in a combination of cabinet and drawer space.

The cabinets are finished in semi-gloss paint in dove white, which serves to carry more natural light into the space, making it feel larger. For the vanity mirrors, the designer chose counter-to-ceiling mirrors with sconces set on the surface of the mirrors, which help to bounce light off of the reflective surface. A Silestone Lusso quartz countertop with a marble and travertine Hillcrest backsplash in a basketweave pattern by Bedrosian finishes the luxurious look.

These materials and finishes are repeated in the bathtub area opposite the vanity just under a double window. On one side of the bathtub is a pair of open shelves to keep towels and bath products near. The half wall that the shelves are tucked into also creates a comforting enveloped feeling for both the bath and the commode.

On the far end of the bathroom is the glass-enclosed walk-in shower that the Hazels wanted to make sure would be easy to care for, with materials that are both durable and beautiful. To accomplish this, the designer and homeowners chose porcelain rather than marble, which would typically need to be resealed in only a few years. The twelve-inch Versilia Calacatta Oro polished porcelain tiles mimic the look of marble for the same luxury look with less maintenance.

In the three custom shower niches, Silestone quartz in Lusso lines the openings and offers a little variation in color that coordinates perfectly with the same basketweave stone mosaic used in the niches and other areas of the bathroom.

Ample storage around the vanity, open shelves over the bathtub, and three shower niches are just the beginning. The design team also crafted a hidden compartment next to the commode that utilizes the empty space created by the tub nearby that usually goes untapped. The sliding door hides bathroom tissue just within reach without having to take up more space with a basket or wall cabinet.

The Mannington Adura luxury vinyl tile flooring in Cascade Sea Mist is also a nice light tone but with a typical veining of travertine, that adds just the right amount of visual texture that doesn’t distract from the overall brightness of the space. An added bonus to the flooring’s aesthetic appeal is the excellent durability of the material–perfect for a bathroom.

Repeating the same light materials and finishes across the bathroom–paired with the double window over the bathtub, the Moen fixtures in polished chrome throughout, and the wood paneling around the shower and bathtub to coordinate with the vanity–keeps this bathroom feeling airy and more spacious than the square footage would suggest. Clever storage solutions utilize every bit of space without overwhelming the room. The result is a luxury bathroom that balances form and function perfectly.
